Sam Butler is the winner of the 4th quarter of 2008 CTA Challenge, with a ROR of 19.87% and a risk ratio of 5.43.
Sam Butler is the President of Altaloma Asset Management, LLC ("AAM"). AAM has been registered with the CFTC and a member of the NFA since November 2004. In September of 2008 AAM changed its name from Steadfast Resource Associates in order to avoid any confusion in regards to AAM’s business.
Mr. Butler graduated with a B.S. degree from the University of Central Florida in 2003. Directly after graduation he began as a hedge fund and managed futures analyst with a small private family office in Central Florida. Butler quickly figured out that he wanted to be more active in the trading side of the business so he made his move into strategy development and trading within the company. He specialized in the development and trading of intra-day equity index futures strategies as well as overnight strategies in the equity index and crude oil options. Mr. Butler still maintains a position within the company and many of his strategies are still in use today.
Beyond AAM Mr. Butler trades a variety of mostly intra-day strategies in a proprietary manner on the equity index futures as well as U.S. Bond futures.
This win of the Q4 2008 PFG CTA Challenge represents Mr. Butler´s fifth win of the quarterly challenges since 2005.
