Nightly Business Report (PBS-TV) aired an interview with PFG's Russell Wasendorf, Sr. on the subject of 2005 growth and hiring plans for financial services companies. Wasendorf, CEO, noted that PFG plans to increase its team of customer service professionals with news hires that have call center experience who can learn the futures business. The company has grown despite economic challenges because of the efficiency of online trading, but now it is expanding to keep pace with customer demand.

Bloomberg spoke with PFG's Chairman and CEO Russell Wasendorf, Sr. to help explain NQLX's decision to stop offering single stock futures December 17. In addition to not promoting their products enough, Wasendorf said declining capital commitments and lack of patience to get the new market growing were reasons for NQLX's failure.

In the September issue of Futures magazine, reporter Daniel Collins, writing about managed money, quoted PFG president Neil Aslin on the cost of trading. Aslin said IB rates have come down steadily in the past five years, in part due to the overcapacity in clearing. Aslin articulated that PFG's goal with its CTA groups is to identify and offer clients quality managers and build performance records to enable long-term relationships.

Reuters tapped PFG's chief operations officer Russell Wasendorf, Jr. on the announcement that CBOT will launch electronically-traded, full-size gold and silver futures contracts beginning on October 6, going head to head with the New York exchange. "Screen-traded metals contracts have been needed for a while. They are likely to be cheaper for the customer and offer faster execution." He added that customers should be able to trade at electronic rates and not pay floor brokerage and trade desk charges.

Bloomberg Business News covering CBOT second quarter earnings quotes Russell Wasendorf, Sr. "Based on recent strong volumes, it is no surprise that [CBOT] income is up," he said. The article noted that CBOT handles more than 90 percent of Treasury futures trades electronically.

"It raises their profile and creates greater interest." Wasendorf also said, however, that Eurex US so far has been disappointing to futures firms and customers looking for alternatives to e-CBOT.
