The letter that I am forwarding to all of you (below) is from Jefferies Group, Inc. Chairman and CEO Rich Handler and from Jefferies Group, Inc. Executive Committee Chairman Brian Friedman. Today they address unfounded rumors and substantiations that have been mongered by those in the marketplace seeking to assassinate their firm’s integrity and financial steadfastness.
It is imperative that you recognize that all of their facts are stated with the promise that no such letter could be conceived and disseminated as broadly as this without immediate, intense, and thorough regulatory and administrative scrutiny of its veracity. Firms simply cannot make statements without the expectation that regulators will verify their accuracy. The truths it boldly conveys will turn the tide on those who have viciously attempted to destroy public faith in Jefferies Group, Inc.
Though we find it unfortunate so much energy has been directed toward damaging an institution of the caliber of Jefferies Group, Inc., we congratulate them for quickly and soundly setting the facts straight for all.
